26th DECEMBER FROM DARKEST PERU...

Yesterday  my daughter Lindsey gave me a small present which upon opening I found a pair of socks.

Then I heard the front door bell chime! My first thought was that is was probably our neighbours popping in to say Merry Christmas but when I opened the door I found...

This young  chap from deepest darkest Peru! via Paddington Station ! My daughter, who invited him, tells me it's taken him from 1972 ( date of birth ) to arrive!

He had his ticket, so he didn't get lost.

a most unexpected but extremely welcome addition to our bear family.

I hope you have all received an unexpected but welcome gift this Christmas or something to add to your doll/bear / toy collection. I'm off to buy some Marmalade, it's the only thing he'll eat!

  1. What a lovely gift your Paddy is! I have one given to me in the seventies sitting on an antique chair at the top of my stairs...which I say good morning to when I get up...don't ask...!!

  2. He is a handsome chap! As I said in my email, I've wanted a Paddington to adopt me since my long ago uni years, but presumably we live too far from London for one to find us.
Ronny, it is PERFECTLY NORMAL to say good morning to a bear. As ancient Bruins would like to make clear, only a human with no manners at all would do otherwise!

    1. He is Jenni. I to have wanted one over the years just never got round to getting one. So it's lovely to finally get one.
I talk to all my dolls and Teddies, as you say it's the polite thing to do! :)xx

  3. I remember my young daughter asking Father Christmas for one just like this BUT he had to have a navy Duffel coat and red Wellingtons (and which I just couldn't locate) so ended up getting one with the navy Duffel and going out to a children's shoe shop to buy the red Wellies. But that wasn't the end of it as then had to spend Christmas knitting him the green bobble hat, scarf and mittens that he so often wore in his books.

    1. I bet Father Christmas was very busy back then getting Paddington's for lots of children, no wonder you had to make do and finish his outfit off yourself. He'll have to wait a while if he wants a green, hat, scarf and mittens, I have other things to do first! :)

  5. What a long journey! But he'll soon find out it was worth it, as he found a perfect place for bears of all sorts.
Maybe the others can teach him that honey is just as tasty as marmalade!

  6. What a handsome young fellow this Paddington is Dee! Have you seen the new Paddington film yet? I was hoping to see it before Christmas but haven't yet so will hopefully see it when it becomes available on dvd or something.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing more of this handsome chap when he makes himself at home in the Sasha Village, which, I'm sure won't take too long!! ;)
