SURGERY IS NOW OPEN

Finally we opened the doll surgery! Doctor Dee and Senior Surgeon Professor Paul, looked at those awaiting help.

Robin, Olivia, Ginny and Mabel Lucie , two have been armless for years, while others have been struggling with their limbs for a good while.

Mabel Lucie's arms were barely holding on and her legs were extremely wobbly , she was a nightmare to stand , so she was first up for a full restring.

Ginny's arms came off a good two years back and she's been waiting patiently ever since, one of her arms was used in the pirate display at the last Chap n Snap, in a sharks mouth !

Olivia is another , whose been waiting a couple of years after her arms fell off, however, she doesn't have any bars or rings in the top of her arms ,on to which to hook her arms, so she's been waiting ages for that to be resolved.

Robin's arms were very loose and when I was redressing him, I pulled his arm out the socket and found out why! see photos below.

Robin's arms..

This skinny piece of elastic is what was holding Robin's arms on! so he was second for his surgery, his legs which still have their original string could do with replacing but they can wait as others needs are much greater !

Mabel Lucie was first up for a full restring and then she was redressed , ready to strut her stuff without falling over !

Ginny had no hooks to go into her arm rings, so we improvised and she was soon happily redressed and waiting with her siblings, having a good old catch up , as she's been out the loop for a while.

So last up was Olivia, who really if we went by time spent in pieces, should have been first but her issue was the hardest to deal with. I been recommended using maybe a button fixed into the arm so a hook could be attached to the link, but the space inside was too small for the buttons I'd found.

Previously someone had made a couple of holes each side of her arms and tied wire through and looped the string round that. We decided to glue some strong metal rod using the holes already made in her arms and so she her legs strings were re=fixed and she was left standing armless while the glue set on her arm repairs.

Well while we wait here are those already operated on..

Mabel Lucie now completely restrung and standing proud for the first time since she arrived several years back. She decided she wanted to wear the outfit that Ginny had been stuck in for the last few years but added a Hagnolly hat due to the cold weather.

Ginny finally with both arms back in place and wearing a lovely bright outfit by A Passion for Sasha.

Robin whose arms are now fine but I need to really do his legs as well ....

so a second afternoon of surgery may happen in the next week while we are on a roll.

Olivia will be up in a separate post tomorrow to celebrate her return to the family.

  1. Doctor Dee and Senior Surgeon Professor Paul have done a good work! What a horrible sight all those dismembered children! A sight you would expect after a war! But now they are cured - most of them. This must be a wonderful feeling to stand for your own after years of having been invalide. Great luck they have to be in care of such a skilled surgery team.
Now I look forward to see Olivias return. What a great day that will be!
