ReplyDeleteGlad the vote went the way you hoped for, Dee. But, be honest now, can you see Her Majesty, the ice Queen lowering herself to beng your jobbing builder? Better ask her minion, little Lucas to do it on her behalf.

PS, I missed my hair appointment and I am a bit tired of this silver grey thing anyway - thought it was lovely when the chemo ended last time and hair sprouted in a new, silvery shade, but I quite fancy a re-root now... can you help? After last night's migraine (thankfully a very short one), I'd be happy to leave my head with you for a while....
I quite like the brunette hair ! But that red is different, just hope it looks ok once it's done!!
DeleteI quite like the idea of being a lovely silvery grey! but so far I only have about seven or eight silvery grey hairs! I long for the day I don't have to have High lights but looks like it will be a while coming !
Sorry to hear you had a migraine maybe it heard about you wanting a re root and was showing you it would be quite painful!! :) so glad these Sasha's won't be saying OUCH! every time I stick the needle in!! :)
OOOH! Just reread your reply to our own Ice Cream - do they still make Caramac? Haven't made myself sick eating that for years. I thought it had gone the way of Spangles, Fry's Five Fruit Fondant Cream, Squirrel's Floral Gums, Palma Violets, Week End Candies and Penny Arrows (12 for a shilling, now that made the pocket money spin out for a week!). I am convinced the confectionary of my youth was far suerior, not to mention being a whole lot cheaper, than the stuff available now.
ReplyDeleteAlso just reread my comment above - I MUST PROOF READ -or I would, if I could see the text!
Oh Jen! That takes me back.....sweets back then tasted SO much better and you are right - you got SO much more for your money!
DeleteYes I have had a Caramac last year, I'm sure they still make them!! I remember going to the sweet shop for six penny's of sweets, four black jacks or four fruit salads for a penny, or sherbet filled space ships or a sherbet dib dab!! and then there was Jubbly's!!
DeleteWell when I say I , I in fact mean my older sister Jackie......yes she is older than me .....thirteen months... I mean years.....months... :)
I bought some of those space ships in the Co-op last month - very disappointing, I THOUGHT they used to taste good, but it turns out they are more like fizzy paper.
DeleteJubbly is alive and well and available, unfrozen, in Iceland. Still loaded wth chemical colouring and artificial, poison - erm, sweetner.
Black Jacks are probaby illegal because of rules re ethnicity - my son got into trouble for having them some his pocket at cubs two decades ago - funny as he was the only brown child there......and fruit salad has probably been done for false advertizing as it is neither fruit nor lettuce looking. Ditto sherbet dib dabs as they don't resemble fish.
The world of confectionary is fraught with issues.
Some of my favourites were floral gums and cherry lips. Both tiny and very sweet smelling. We got double enjoyment from them - the very arificial sweet taste and the fact that they were so small you could put them between gum and cheek without the need to chew and watch your teacher going from table to tble sniffing in a vain attempt to track down who was eating them. Pointless! We all were! Then, poor misguided teacher would suffer the indignity of some sweet little angel asking, Have you got a cold, Miss? Or, Shall I get you a tissue, Sir, you seem to be sniffing rather a lot!
Being a pupil in the days when children were all so well behaved (ha - we were just cleverer at hidig our misdemeanours, for fear of the cane) was an excellent training ground for me as a teacher. No little angels in my classes - could see the horns on every one of them and let them know that i thought them rank amateurs in the sneekiness business. But,as the summer drew on and they were about to move into another teacher's domain, I'd let them in on all the secrets of how to get away with all sorts but appear to be angelic...........
LUCAS! Listen!... if you want to get away with......
I'm glad Jen's girl will have that glorious red/auburn hair - she will look wonderful. What will the boys say when they realise she isn't the famous bald cyclist, I hope they like her new hair.
