A BRIEF ENCOUNTER SASHA STYLE

Back in the day Kendal took a couple of her Sasha's to Cranforth station and posed them in honour of the classic film Brief Encounter.

beside the trunks and luggage of the travellers.

Kendal was  leading the way in outdoor Sasha photo shoots while we were still innocent of the pull of the these dolls. Her blog, which you can find on my side bar under Kendal's Sasha Brood, if you don't already know it, is a feast for Sasha loving eyes. But be warned , you'd best get yourself a drink and something to munch on before you venture over there because you'll be there a good while unable to tear yourself away from her fabulous photos.

Many thanks to Kendal for sending me these photos to share.

  1. What a delightful and so very kind surprise to see this here especially as I feel very guilty neglecting my blog for so long through ongoing illness.
It was your mention of your next CnS theme 'The Evacuees' that spurred me on to send these few photos.
Hoping that I might be well enough by then to attend your special Sasha Fun 2020 day and get me meet some of my old friends again.
Sasha love and thanks Denise. xx

  2. My heavens Dee, now we're going back, I feel like I'm in a time warp! Love the poster and the photos . . . those old trunks brought back memories (we had two like the one in the middle) . . . RANK certainly did bring out some golden oldies. :)
Thanks to Kendal and big hugs,
    X

    1. Don't you just those old films, I was raised on them, sitting with my siblings and mother on a Satureday and Sunday afternoon watching them.

I just love those trunks, always wanted one when I was younger but alas it never happened. Hugs xx

    2. Always been a big movie buff Dee, love the old black and whites dramas (something the British always do so well even now, but of course in colour), and the old musicals too.
Unfortunately the trunks disappeard some time back, I think my mother gave them away, like most of the things I wish she had held on to. :(

    3. Alas that is the problem with mothers , they always get rid of things that when you are an adult you wish they'd kept! If only we knew when we were younger just what we'd want to keep from the family later or even better if our parents had been hoarders! lol
My mum threw out my three foot high pile of american marvel comics, which I'd collect through the sixties!!

    4. Our school trunks too were similar to that one in the middle.

    5. Maybe they were the standard size allowed for children going to school.

    1. She is, isn't she. Just wonderful photos and how she managed to avoid people walking into her shots!

    1. We just love a good old black and white film here! A matter of life and death, Hobson's choice the list is endless and everyone a gem!
Those were the days of golden cinema :)

  5. Great photos Kendal! I remember this poster, and many others like it from my youth when, in my first job, I worked for Rank Film Distributors in Wardour Street in Soho....and part of my job was to keep track of where all the films were going and to supply the people with posters, stills photos of the film etc. I used to love watching all those old films, well I still do really!
Thanks for sharing the photos, Dee, it brought back some nice memories for me!

    1. What a coinsidence Sharon , My mother worked for Rank in London, back in the fifties cutting the films and splicing them back together! Not sure why and it's too long ago for me to remember lol.
Paul's dad used to work for Humphreys Labs which developed the films for the cinemas and tv, back in the sixties and seventies, we had a reel of film somewhere of the Beatles up on the roof of a building round the back of Saville row and they caused all the traffic to stop due to all the people listening and getting in the way!
Those were the days ! Glad to spark a memory or two, for all of us ;) xx

    2. Oh wow, what a coincidence Dee! We used to have the splicing equipment but most of that went out to the Denham Studios to be done if I remember rightly. But we still had loads of those round metal tins containing film footage all over the office. This was the time when they used to be sent out to cinemas all over the world, to be shown and then they'd have to be booked back in again, invoiced for etc, which was all part of my first job!!!
      xx
