That's the wallpaper books! I sent for some samples of the wallpapers we liked for the hall. Well to say I was stunned is probably correct, when the samples arrived it turns out that the lovely bright flowers on the wallpapers are ENORMOUS! and I am not kidding ! To say big is an understatement!
When I checked the wallpaper roll size it was 68.6cms when a roll is normally only 52cm which shows just how big the pattern is! Which is a shame as I did love those colours.
So it's back to the search for a wallpaper! The paper is only going to be used in a couple of places but we need to know what we'll use as the rest of the walls will be in a plain colour chosen from the colours in the paper.
We both love this paper but it's restrictive in which colour we'd be able to chose for the other walls! But I do love it!
We like this wallpaper because it gives us a few colours to chose from and it's nice and bright with a good mix of colour.
I like this one too but don't really want to have to paint the other walls green or for that matter yellow.
I should have known it was too good to be true when we found the other wallpaper that's turned out too big! We'd settled on the wallpaper for the bathroom and cloakroom really quickly, saw something fell in love , done deal! So now lots of wavering back and forth!
I'll have to go look through some books in an interiors shop and see if something leaps out!
Who knew it could be so hard to find wallpaper!!

Please send in your doll shelf photo's , all welcome.
Those papers are all beautiful. I have always absolutely loved the first one, it's French isn't it? But yes, that colorway is a bit challenging. With wallpaper is seems like you either find the right one immediately or you search and search forever.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree :) Same here it's by Liberty's.I just love the colours and style of it but alas it won't be going up in the hall.
DeleteYou are right about wallpapers they either drop in your lap or you search for ages! x
Al beautiful, but I particularly like the middle one. It gives more choice of colour and is lighter/brighter than the others. Much as I love the top one, it might be a little 'heavy' unless it is in a very large room space.
ReplyDeleteShame about the other paper - I REALLY loved the design and colours but thought the design would be about half the size it is or even less.
What ever you choose, you and Paul will make the right decision. You have a distinctive style and are great at dsign - garden and house. Fancy being my go to consultant?
Funnily enough It's the middle one we'll probably go for , as it's got a bigger range of colours to chose from and is so much brighter which the hallway will need.
DeleteMe too! loved that paper and I thought it was just a normal small sized flower pattern!and so many beautiful tones of colour to chose from! but never mind it will come right in the end!
That's kind of you to say Jenni :) we are always open for consultations ;)
Don't worry... I will pop round later and put some GRAFFITI on the walls:)
ReplyDeleteReally! I do love a bit of good graffiti ! lets think... you live never Brighton and are always going there..... could it be ....... BANKSY! WOW! let me just get Paul to put some board on the wall before you start, don't want to ruin the plastering when we come to sell your work on .... :)
DeleteYou've guessed it...you have blown my cover I am indeed Banksy :)
DeleteIn that case pop round Wednesday week and you can scribble...I mean design on the walls ,I'll keep them at least a week before I sell them...honest!
DeletePhotographic 'samples' can so often prove disappointing when then seen 'in the flesh' so to speak so this is why I much prefer to actually see and handle things first if at all possible... especially when they are on the expensive side.
ReplyDeleteSasha Dolls (and carpets) definitely come into this category.
I too instantly recognised the last two samples as being Liberty's. By-passed the first as being too bold for my liking plus I am not a lover of Turquoise although I have to admit that it is such a clean, fresh looking colour!
I agree but they are not normally so far out! I'll show a photo later in the week of a Sasha standing by the sample! I agree about seeing things first hand, which is why I sent for samples, thank goodness.
DeleteI think the middle one's the one we will have because it gives plenty of choice colourwise.
Oh crumbs I would be hopeless at choosing wallpaper......so we have plain painted walls here or painted blown vinyl. So much easier for me.
ReplyDeleteBut good luck in getting the wallpaper you need......have you settled on that middle one yet?
My problem is I like so many lol I just love pattern and colour ,in fabric, wallpaper clothes, everything. And yes I do believe the middle it will be.
DeleteThe middle one seems to have many colours similar to the one you loved previously - and is such a classic design. <3
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly Tricia , colour and pattern and yes a classic Morris design 😊
DeleteBeautiful wallpaper designs! I especially like the middle pattern. Wishing you all the best Dee with your choices! :) xxx
