Here is a reminder of William Dickens and all his lovely clothing and accessories.I was informed by the maker of this wonder that all the items seen in photo would fit into the two trunks, William of course not included.
Now the seed was sown into the minds of those who attended and some who did not and as I type there are people up and down the country and possibly abroad in the process of making up their own version of this.
When I was at my friend Gill's recently I took the following photo's of the beginnings of her boarding school collection.
And here his brother show's off the cricket whites.
Now I know of some else who is doing a Sasha off to boarding school and it makes me wonder how many other's out there have also decided to follow this theme. I know Hattie was looking into sending Toby until she was reliably informed that he would return for all the school holiday's which are longer than state school holiday's and they would not keep him until 18 then ship him off to uni!
I must confess that I was also inspired by this raffle prize and have started my own collection but so far only have a pair of grey shorts and trouser's a pair of white cricket trousers and a cricket sweater, oh and a satchel at the rate I am going my lad will have moved out and got married before I am anywhere near sending him off
Oh what a lovely idea. It certainly was a FANTASTIC 'never-to-be forgotten' raffle. I remember the moment my friend Steve arrived at the front door of the hotel on Friday afternoon I literally dragged him off into the library to show him.
ReplyDeleteI must admit that it hadn't crossed my mind to do the same for one of my Brood...probably because the novelty has worn off having seen my three brothers (and my sister and myself) with all that preparation and trunk packing over a period of at least ten years each...plus there being seventeen years between my youngest brother and myself. (Not proficient enough in mathematics these days to work out just how many years that there were always school trunks scattered around half packed in our playroom during the school holidays.)
Sounds like a long and fun fulling project though and the sharing with others where you managed to locate some of the necessary items. Should also solve any Gregor Christmas/birthday present giving problems between collectors.
Gill looks to be well underway on this task and I look forward to seeing and hearing about all the progresses.

PS. Don't forget that two sets of bedlinen, an eiderdown (old fashioned name for a duvet) two bath towels and four hand towels plus a complete set of name engraved cutlery are also needed.) All were returned (if they had survived) when you finally left.
Nope! I won't be dressing my 'massive' in school uniforms,it has taken me a while to actually get them all in summer gear (see today's post on my blog). If I asked Judith to kit out my twelve in schoolwear she would probably have a nervous breakdown poor love :)
