TWO GO WANDERING IN EAST SUSSEX

Ever since Violet went to East Ruston Vicarage without her sister Sapphire, the girl's had been nagging to go to another famous garden together! Yesterday they got their wish when they were taken to Great Dixter the home of the Late Christopher Lloyd.

They were very impressed with these large groups of potted plants either side of the entrance to the house.

They made plans to pot up some plants when they got home and do the same at their house!

There were lots of long lovely paths bursting with flowers.

Being so small the girls had to keep calling out so they did not get lost!

"Look at this little gate " called Sapphire to her sister " They are using it to hold back the plants"

" These anemone's are very pretty " states Violet " we should get Mum and Dad to put more in the garden "

" Sapphire!" calls Violet " come and see this lovely planting by this path"

" Oh Yes " says Sapphire " It is so pretty. I wonder where we could do the same at home?"

" Or " says Sapphire getting completely carried away " we could get Mum and Dad to buy this place , then we can have the run of these beautiful gardens!"

" OH No " says Violet firmly " I would not want to live here, all these people can wander round your garden all the time! No I want to be able to wander round our garden without all these strangers"

" We could let them in just once a year " suggests Sapphire but Violet's having none of it, her eyes are filled with plans to make her own garden bigger and better!

" I wonder if we could get Dad to build us one of these ? " Violet asks Sapphire
" Oh Yes, lets ask him "

Well the girl's are very impressed with their visit to Great Dixter and poor Dad is being bombarded with hundreds of questions and Idea's of what he should now do to their garden, with their help of course!

At least once back in the car they go quiet and only the odd question or request is heard from the back seat as they draw up plan's for the complete revamp of the back garden!

  1. A really beautiful house and garden!
Yes, I too like the grouped planters around the doorway but love the clipped greenery too that is obviously there all the year round.

Only last week I took a quick long hard look at my TINY back patch as have had to have some of the shrubs drastically pruned back a couple of months ago to see if any improvements can be made but basically it's just too small to do much. No room for any paths and the boarders aren't deep enough to allow for different heights in the planting like I see here so I think that I'll just have to continue admiring yours and other Sasha Bloggers gardens.

Was hoping to catch sight of the twins together, as in the beginning photos they were always shown separately, to see the differences in their similar Autumnal outfits by vintage-sasha, with your hats and Rosie blooms sandals. Love the way that they each have THEIR own colours just like the twin girls in our family used to have, one preferring pinks, oranges and reds, the other the blues, purples and greens.

Look forward to seeing the resulting changes in your lovely back garden and then hopefully you might come up here and see if you have any suggestions as to what I can do with my rather boring, mainly evergreen boarders around a small postage stamp lawn. Definitely be a challenge.

    Sasha love from Kendal.

    1. Thank you Kendal. The girl's do like to be the same but different! and they are wearing cardigan's by Gill which are again the same but different.

The trouble with going to these beautiful garden's is you do come home and look at your patch and start to have grand idea's! Lol

Any time you would like a visit and some garden style advice just say, we gardeners like nothing better than advising other's on what they can do ! and we always bring a few cuttings :) Lol

  2. Lovely pictures of the girls and garden Dee! I can't grow flowers with my Basset Hounds (who delight in digging them up) so have to be content with just grass !!
