JENNY

 TAKES THE BISCUIT!

and Valentine is not impressed !

PEEK FREAN  Makers of Famous Biscuits! With a warrant to supply the Queen with biscuits. My Grandmother  Ivy LeMay, worked at their factory when I was a child and she worked the late shift. When my siblings and I were young sometimes my dad would visit his parents and take us to pick up our Nan at the factory when she finished her shift.
She would come out with a big brown paper bag filled with broken biscuits which she could buy for 2 pennies, in old money. She would also bring us the QUEEN'S biscuits! These were about three inches long and an inch or so wide and about half an inch thick , a biscuit covered in milk chocolate, not un similar to the club biscuits of today but much bigger and nicer.
So the words Peek Frean Biscuits have a special place in my heart .

So I was over the moon when I found these tins on ebay , I'd managed to get a Huntley and Palmer tin like the top two a few years back and it's lovely to now have these Peek Frean ones.

  2. I love the story and memories that go with these biscuit tins. Thank you for sharing.

    But oh no!
Now I now I will have to go and look for miniature Peek Frean biscuit tins to go with my Huntley and Palmer tins.
    And *humph*
I am not so sure that Jenny should be allowed to run off with the biscuit...... Valentine needs one too as he did actually stay and help you with the photoshoot.

I think Valentines probably sampled a good few while he was making them, I've never known him to miss out! :)

  6. Jenny must have brought the biscuit back, as it can be seen in the last pic - or there was another one for poor Valentine.
