" We don't stop playing
because we grow old
We grow old because
we stop playing "
George Bernard Shaw
Part way through January I had the idea to give this month a theme and so that's what I am going to do.
This month's theme is words.
When I say words, it could be a letter, a saying, a book, a sentence, a poem anything that relates to words and the use of.
I found the above quote on a person who makes dolls clothes blog and thought it most apt. Having visited George Bernard Shaw's house, it's just the down the road from my village, it's seems a perfect quote to start off with.
His home from the back garden.
His writing hut in the garden.
A bronze in the garden.
So can I find enough word related photo ideas....to fill my blog for the month of February .. lets find out..... :)
so lets start with this one...
One from the archives ! Of when Paige, my 69 dungarees girl, arrived and met Edward the Panda , who fainted due to the excitement of at last meeting his little Miss.
If you'd like to include the theme in your doll shelf photos please do but if not that's fine.

I well remember the above picture and loved the wording on the wall.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see a couple of your little Bramber Bears whom have been noticeably absent for quite some time now from your blogposts.
So hoping that the words 'Bramber Bears' is on your February 'Word list.'
An excellently posed picture.
The bears are around and will no doubt turn up at some stage to put in their two penarth worth! Especially as they do seem to have a large vocabulary for such little bears !
DeleteI'm with Kandal; happy to see the bears again!
ReplyDeleteAnd Paige, naturellement!
Love the Shaws home, wish I lived in such a house. (In England, withour snow... I must think it over.) The monthly words are another great idea, I do love wise sentences of -hopefully- wise people!
KENDAL, KENDAL, Kendal -got it.
DeleteThe bears will always appear sooner or later :) Shaw's house is lovely but down some narrow country lanes, so if it snowed.... :)
DeleteIt does have a lovely feel about it and is not too big.
yes this words month will be interesting I think :)
White rabbit, white rabbit, white rabbit - isn't that what you're supposed to say, as you hop backwards down the stairs, on the first of the month?
ReplyDeleteMaybe not such a good idea!
Loving your Shaw quotation - so very true. Thankfully we will never grow old!
We do say white rabbits but we don't hop backwards down any stairs!!!
DeleteThat Shaw quotation is most apt for us doll lovers :)
Hi Dee, I'd like to submit a photo for the Feb. 5 shelf day (and I think even fits the "Words" theme!). Where should I send it? John
ReplyDeleteHi John
Deletethat's great, my email add is on the sales page. Dee
Hi Dee! I like the word theme idea. Thank you for posting the shelf doll photos each month. I love seeing everyone's dolls. Your Paige photo is great! 😊 xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Ginger, Thanks , I thought it would be a good theme :)
DeleteIt's great that people want to take part each month, so we can all enjoy their photos. I love Paige :) xx
The photo of Paige is wonderful, and it even looks like it was taken in George Bernard Shaw's writing hut!
ReplyDeleteSteve
Thank you Steve. The background is similar to George Bernard Shaw's writing hut but also it's just the kitchen :) Dee
DeleteIf a girl like Paige would arrive here, I'd probably faint too!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting you live so close to Shaw's house, and it looks a lovely place. I could visit Friedrich Schiller's birth place in Marbach, of course, but I've been there, and I remember it being rather dark and small.
I saved for her and a lovely lady gave me the time to get the funds together after I fell in love with her.
DeleteShaw's house is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon and on some days in the summer they have a troupe of actors performing some of his work :)
Oh this is going to be a fun theme as I LOVE words!!! And I love that last photo.....how lovely that you were able to save for her after having seen her. That was so kind. And awww about Edward the Panda too.
ReplyDeleteMe Too! :) There was a story line way back when I was paying off for her with Edward waiting at the window and then getting ready for her arrival :) this photo is from back then.
DeleteThe photo of Paige and the bears is just gorgeous, those letters spelling out her name on the wall are very sweet.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your words theme :)

Thank you Sharon , I was very happy with the photos for that blog post :)
DeleteI hope it can last a month! xx
