IT'S SUNDAY

Well I was not going to post until the end of next week because I am half way through my two week break but since Paul's off taking Rufus to his gun dog training class I decided you may like an update.

Most people go away for their holidays but not us! We do tend to get a week or a couple of days away but these days there is always so much to do at home or we just enjoy lazing around our own garden and house making plans.

We hired a skip to get rid of loads of the things that have been cluttering up the carport and sheds. The old kitchen units , wood, old rugs , loads of things. However we probably should have ordered a bigger one because we will still need to take a couple of trips to the recycling centre before everything is gone. But at least the heavy, large and awkward items are all gone.

However we still need to go through all these boxes that are left in a big shed we are giving to our next door neighbour .

It's not as bad as it looks, it's just a case of getting in and throwing things out!  We need to be hard!

There are a couple of old single wasp nests in the roof.

Nature is amazing.

In our quest for space and tidiness we are getting rid of a few items of furniture like this display wall cupboard. I'd love to actually keep this item but have nowhere to put it! So it must go along with several other things.

We had some of our best friends over for lunch and they brought us this magnificent Agapanthus , you always get the best presents from old friends. We need to find a nice terracotta pot for it from our stash.

The weathers been wonderful , so we've had lunch outside most days and whiled the afternoons or evenings away sitting outside making plans for the house and garden. I do love making plans! Even if they take years to happen , there is nothing more satisfying than making plans apart from actually achieving them.

Of course a holiday for us would not be a holiday unless we visited a garden centre and came back with some treasure! Which is why we found ourselves having gone out to buy cat litter , popping into a garden centre along the way with a view to seeing if they had some tall grasses we wanted for one of the borders.

There were lots of signs saying 25% off pots and 30% off plants and we saw this gorgeous large pot sitting all alone on a pallet. We discussed where it could go if we bought it , then bought a couple of grasses and left to go get the cat litter but of course on our way back we decided yes , we could find a home for such a wonderful big pot , so popped in and bought it,saving yet another £5 because we had their garden club card ! So a good result all round!.

I had considered putting the new pot in the centre of this path circle in front of the folly but realised that it would not look quite right there as the stone birdbath, that we use as a plant stand, matches the folly better.

So that meant a rethink and it's now going here in this new border. The border looks a bit of a mess at the moment but we have plans to remove the perennial plants into the flower garden and replace with the two Dicksonia's and grasses.

Of course once we went into the garden centre and only found two of the grasses we were looking for it then meant a trip to a local nursery we use , who turned out to also be having a sale of 30% off trees and shrubs and 20% of perennials, so we landed up with more plants and grasses and a tree being delivered next week!
So now we must ban ourselves from any nurseries. garden centres for the next couple of months!

This week ,I receive an email from Janet MD donating a lovely baby dressed by her to the Chat n Snap raffle .

and then yesterday I received a wonderful Sasha doll donated by Jenni  for the Chat n Snap raffle, so hopefully a good sum will be raised for the charity.

This re root by Alison and eyes by Shelly donated by Jenni, a very generous gift.

Well they are threatening that my second week off will be filled with rainy days, so I need to go and get on with some of the things I need to be doing outside.

So I wish you all a lovely healthy and not to wet week ahead and I'll be back next Sunday.

  1. When the weather is nice here, there really is nowhere better than relaxing at home and in the garden and eating out. Making plans is the best past time even if they do take a long time to materialise and that garden pot is a great addition to your garden. Those are lovely donations too. Enjoy your week off (maybe indoors this time I think)! Viv

  2. I completely agree that it can feel like a real luxury to just spend your vacation at home, probably because it seems like I spend so much of my time at work. It's always a good feeling to have a little clear out too. We really need to do that. That red headed girl is really lovely.

Love the big pot, we have a couple of similar ones here, and had some in our garden that we left there when we sold the house.:(
