THE CARPET BAG

The Carpet Bag

Upon the children's room floor
does sit
a carpet bag of note
She placed it down then looked around
a sigh escaped her throat.

Asking it to stay! she wandered away
looking here and there
Tutting once, with an odd grump
she dusted off a chair

Not before time had she arrived to find
the place full of toys and clothes
She could see they'd need one such as she
to keep them on their toes

So between you and me , I have to say
that carpet bags that come to stay
With little girls in tow
Fill a house with love and cheer
and  a happy glow

So without more ado I'll tell to you
 the story of magic and wonder
For in this place sits a carpet bag
Listen to that thunder.....
