IT'S SUNDAY SO IT'S CATCH UP

Another cold weather week in the United Kingdom ! Very cold and frosty mornings with the temperature barely raising during the day although the days have been lovely and bright with sunshine but this as not increased the temperature much.

No doubt there are those who will find this weather an issue but in truth a bright crisp day is a thing to welcome and enjoy. Yes it's cold, yes it can be dicey first thing in the morning driving to work or if you have to stand on a cold train station platform waiting for a train but at least it's not snowing, there is no rain and the sun is shining!

And there is nothing like getting back indoors , into the warm with a hot drink to make it all worth while. I don't think I could ever live in a country where the weather stayed the same all year round.. what would we have to talk about ?

Paul offered to buy me a camera! Reluctantly ( I was in the car before he'd shut the front door! ) I let him drag me off to John Lewis , where we waited patiently behind a lady who seemed to take ages looking at some cameras and then It was our turn. I found the one I'd looked at online and was going to get but while waiting I'd noticed another slightly bigger and better one which after a discussion with the young man at the counter we decided would be a better buy.
So we waited for him to arrange for one to be bought up only to discover that they had none in stock!!! They did have the one I had originally been going to buy but of course I now wanted the other one but he said he'd get one in for the next day.. could I wait a day... yes if I had to... then we realised we could have it delivered to Waitrose in the town where I work.. lovely......only then  to be told they did not have any in their warehouse either and I'd have to wait for stock to come in to buy one!!!

I told the young man behind the counter that this was always happening to me , in this store and I was going to go over to the corner and cry at the injustice! I told him he should sell me the one on display since he did not have any others in the whole warehouse but he would not give it up! Paul suggested getting the one I'd first decided on but no I'd moved up a notch to bigger and better.. so dragging my feet I left ........still without a camera !

Paul's camera is still being repaired and will not be available for another couple of weeks! So I'm afraid it's still ipad photos for a while longer!

On the home front we decided that Paul would put the stained glass in the door and side panel and we'd put the letter plate in once the weather started to warm up in a month or two.

Of course this was late this afternoon, so it was quite dark by the time he finished, so here are some
ipad photo's taken late on.

So although you cannot see the door colour you can see the light shinning through the glass.

I will take some photos in the daylight to share next weekend. Being a creature of balance I'm tempted to think the side panel should have had the blue glass round the yellow centre diamond but if you see old photos of original doors with panels this is now they were made with a reduced design link.

I'm looking forward to seeing it tomorrow against the door colour , in the daylight . But another job done , so we can move on to the next  ( hope you are noticing the we , it is the royal we   )

Not  a lot happening on the doll front , a little none Sasha doll is in transit but other than that all's quiet. I am still trying to attack the masses of clothes I own for the Sasha's and have put a few of the brand new but unused items I bought a year ago on my sales page and also on ebay.

I thought I would share some old  photos of  Adam ( Gotz David) who is in his original outfit. Of all the later Gotz dolls He is one of my favourites and I just love his outfit.
He did leave me for awhile and went off to France to live with another Sasha collector but he found his way back after he'd enjoyed enough of the French countryside.

I originally got him from Germany, so he is a bit of a europhile and really should hold a passport for his travels.

I named him for Adam Faith  a singer from the sixties.

I'm hoping that they'll get my camera in stock this week... but I'm not going to hold my breath and may see if I can find one elsewhere, in the meantime have a great week .

  1. I agree to your words on the weather. Since we kept the snow here, you are able to enjoy the sun and the crisp cold!

Congrats for deciding for the camera, wich isn't in stock. I know exactly what you talking about. I'm always the one, who's on the cash till if it breaks. And the last parking place I wanted to use is always quickly occupied.

The windows really great and shiny and tasteful! Seems you have one door on the left for the very small visitors and on the right side for the bigger ones?

Have cozy and warm evening inside!

    2. That was so kind and good of you to keep the snow :) you can send it here in a bout three winters time, when hopefully I'll be able to enjoy it because I won't need to drive in it if I don't want too! :)
Yes always that shop makes me wait! or have to change to another but I'll keep my options open :)
You are the first to notice the smaller door for the dolls ;) Now I just need Paul to agree to let t open.. for some reason he's says no more need to enter?...
We are having lovely warm and cosy evening :)
and yes you were first to comment :)

  2. I find it maddening when I finally decide to buy something, only to discover it's not in stock. I can sympathise with you about the camera. The window in the door and sidelight are really beautiful. I like this modern adaptation of an old style. Adam's outfit is fantastic; I like in a hounds tooth pattern, too. I think it's one of the very best outfits which ever were produced for the factory-made Sasha dolls.

    1. I guess great minds think alike, because I have to second everything Angelo's Papa says. I hate it when the thing I want is out of stock. The only thing worse is when you get something that turns out to be defective (probably the one in a million). The stained glass is just lovely, and yes, I think Adam's outfit was one of the best boy's outfits ever. He's a beautiful doll.

    2. It's so annoying, you take time to decide and then to act on that decision only to find it's not available, in stock, discontinued etc.. maddening.. and defective even worse!
Thank you we are very happy with the glass and I just so love Adam and his outfit , I have to agree with you both that it's one of the best outfits :)

  3. I am glad you are going to look elsewhere for that camera, JL isn't always the cheapest even if they stock good quality stuff. the new stained glass window looks very good - well done Paul.

    1. I have looked about and John Lewis is best price with best insurance cost and deal, so will wait a few days then may have to go elsewhere!
      Paul says thank you :)

  4. I always try to go to John Lewis first for any electrical items like cameras, TVs, laptops, phones, washing machines, tumble dryers etc. as they not only give you good advice but add an extra year onto your guarantee. I'm sure that they'll get you your camera asap and well worth the extra wait for the bigger, better one.

Loving your stained glass windows with the hall light shining through. Most welcoming.
(Just decided that when I've finished writing this comment I must go out and see what my modern stained glass front door window looks like as have never really seen it in the dark with the hall light on...and I've been living here for 23 years!

    1. Ps, Forgot to say that it hasn't been that cold up here, in fact quite mild for this time of year. Usually we're so much colder than you down there.

    2. Me too, Kendal, John Lewis give you that extra year cover and in the case of this camera and I can extend it for a faction of the price of elsewhere!
Thank you It was good in a way that it was almost dark when Paul finished as it meant the hall light lit the glass for the photos. lol you sound as observant as me about not noticing the glass in your door for so long, take a photo so we can all see too!
Yes it seems that the midlands is having a nice mild winter this year and the soft south is getting the cold!

  5. Oh no about the camera woes ((huge hugs))
But on the bright side the front door looks lovely. And I like it to be cold in the winter......I need some seasonality in my life now that there is none in the fruit and vegetable section of the supermarket!

    1. Thanks Jane ... sigh... I think I'm being tested.. and I don't like it!
Yes the door is definitely on the bright side :)
We need cold winters so we know what season it is! Fruit and veg available all year round , Hot cross buns almost as long ! There'll be Easter eggs in the shops soon!

  6. Your stained glass looks great and I'm looking forward to seeing the door in day light too.
It is annoying when you spend ages choosing something only to find it's out of stock. We don't have JL here so I'm not really familiar with them.
As for easter eggs - a friend told me that cream eggs were on sale - Christmas eve!

  8. The windows look lovely Dee, well done both of you ;) I look forward to photos in the light too :)
Adam looks handsome, a boy like him was one of the first Gotz boys I saw and thought he was so cute, particularly as they have such nice long hair for a boy.
On the camera front, I always choose Canon because I think they have excellent lenses. A lot of other brands also use their lenses apparently.
My camera is an EOS 600D and I have bought a couple of different lenses to go with it although to be honest, more often than not I use the lens it came with. I hope you're able to get what you want and soon though. Have you looked on Amazon UK? I recently got a lovely new laptop from them and I have to say their service was brilliant and the postage was very very reasonable!
PS I have to say that I'm very happy to have warmer weather here all year round...USUALLY!!! As you know it's been pretty chilly here recently but thank goodness it's also been bright and sunny each day too. But we have also had SNOW!!!! Well it's on top of the mountains anyway but very pretty to look at ;)

    1. Thanks Sharon, I worked so hard checking up on what he was doing ;)
I do love the later Gotz boys , I had a brunette Michael at one point who was adopted, he was gorgeous too! Lovely long hair great eyes.
I'm looking at a Canon but one of the powershot , I'd never bother to change the lens on a camera unless I had loads of time and I tend to always be in a hurry! lol Plus I would still have access to Paul's Canon Camera with all it's lenses if I was going to need them.
I did look on amazon but they only had the camera in red and I wanted the black.
I suppose you get used to having almost the same weather all year although I think Spain still gets a little seasonal weather too just not normal as wide a range! SNOW on top of a mountain in the distance I can handle ;) xxx
