Let me introduce Honeysuckle ! Pardon? You are not going to have a name like Honeysuckle!
Well I think it's quite sweet..
Oh you are not sweet you are tough !
Well if I call you Honeysuckle..don't scowl...we could call you Honey for short..how about that?... No!
Oh you don't want no girly sweety name......mmmm well now I think about it....
another name's come to mind, what about Roberta ? It's better...good we could call you Bobbie for short ?
At last you like that one? great so I'll start again.
Let me introduce Roberta or Bobbie for short , a swe... a tough waif that I came across just as the auction was about to end and piped the other persons to the post by 36p!! No one more surprised than me! so
Bobbie who as you can see is a bit of a tomboy with a scrappy hair cut in joining us.
I fell for her puddle eyes and scrappy hair which I think looks quite cute. when I bought her I thought maybe to wig her but her tatty head appeals, so for the moment I think she'll keep her hair. I will need to trim the back which is all over the place and give her a wash and change of clothes and see what happens! She may yet land up wigged but it will be short and in keeping with how she looks now, do I have a wig like that? No of course not...it never goes to plan....
This I find is one of the best parts of Sasha collecting, a new Sasha who arrives with her character already shinning through and spending a while getting to know each other and dressing them how they wish!
These ones do seem to head towards this village even when I am not looking.....
*********************************************************************************
Do you think she will become a rival or business partner for Hattie? She certainly seems to have some spunk.
ReplyDeleteI think she'll be a business partner to our Hattie after all if ever a Sasha needed a hat Bobbie does!! :) but they may clash on occasion!
DeleteBobbie needs a Peruvian hat Dee to make her feel she has some hair while you decide what is too be done. She would look fab with knitted sweater, layered maybe with a waistcoat, tights , mini skirt and boots or a pair of jeans...she is lovely :)
ReplyDeleteI agree a Peruvian hat would look great , I just need to rob a Peruvian ! :)
DeleteAt present she's wearing boots, tights, culottes, a pirate sweater and a stripy jacket...just need to find by box of Peruvian ( hagnolly ) hats :)
You Sasha style queen you! She is going to look magnificent!
DeleteHow WE love our waifs and strays especially those already with own characters. They're totally irresistable and always seem to make a Sasha collection (plus when a blogspot is attached) so much more exciting and interesting.
ReplyDeleteFab new name, Roberta/Bobbie, suits her 'to a T'..... as actually does her outfit. Looking forward to reading about her adventures as she gets introduced to the Village Clan and settles into her new home.
Great buy!
WE do indeed ! There is nothing so special as a waif and a waif with attitude is even better!
DeleteShe does look good in that outfit and will fit in well with the village clan. :)
Well done on your new arrival. She does have a lovely face.
ReplyDeleteIs her hair silky or dry? I recently got a new boy who seems minty apart from the really dry hair - I suppose I should condition it but I'm still working up the nerve to spray conditioner onto a Gregor.
Any advice?
Rosie if I were you I wouldn't put spray conditioner on a Sasha. It tends to leave little 'beads' (for want of a better word!) on the surface of the nylon fibres as unlike hair it doesn't penetrate.A tiny ( and I mean tiny) drop of Macadamia or Moroccan oil makes the hair feel instantly soft but putting on too much will make it look greasy. It is a good pick me up for winter stressed or sun stressed human hair too which justifies the price!
DeleteI forgot to mention ..don't wash the oil off just leave it on.
DeleteBobbie's hair is quite silky but I just wash my dolls hair in shampoo and conditioner making sure not to get water inside. I have never used spray conditioner, so lucky Ronnie's answered that question.
DeleteNot sure I would want a doll to have an oily head though! I'd wash it but that's me :)
I use Baby shampoo to wash their hair, and normally leave a good conditioner like Aussie or Redken on for a couple of hours or overnight have combed it through to the ends first. It may be pure coincidence but the two occasions I used Dove conditioner on a blonde and a redhead they both started to shed a little even though their hair was firmly rooted before hand!!!! I think Sharon posted about moroccan oil with one of her blonde Sashas, it does really work on dry ends, but don't wash it off...it won't make your dolls head oily Dee ...honestly!!
DeleteI use children's detangler - not directly, I spray onto a soft, lint-free cloth (the one I use was stolen from my mother's glasses case...) and gently pat it onto any dry ot tangled areas. Works better for Sashas than for children - the Sashas are stoics and don't scream when it is combed through.
ReplyDeleteYou must have very sturdy Sasha's! mine always try to escape when I brush their hair, a little like the kids used to do really! :)
DeleteBobbie is just great Dee! I love waifs too and I do enjoy watching how you take them in and decide how you will care for them. Congratulations on a great, unexpected addition to your family. Well done! :) xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Ginger :) I really must try to avoid Ebay for a while ! I do so love the waif and that is one of the places to find the poor things!:)xxx
DeleteI LOVE her Dee, she's gorgeous! I love the haircut and think it suits her perfectly. The only wig that is similar if you did decide to go down that route would be a Roxie I guess, in Peach Blond....or there is another that's short and choppy like this ..... the Monique Gold Frankie http://www.facetsbymarcia.com/wigshop89.htm but I don't know if it comes in the blond. But if her hair is nice and silky then it would be silly to waste money on getting a similar wig I would think?
ReplyDeleteAs for the oil, yes I used Argan oil which is a mixture of argan and cotton oil I think, and yes, from Morroco. I use it on my own hair too and so does my hairdresser, and as Ronny says, you only need the tiniest dot of it to get your Sashas hair lovely and soft. You put it on when the hair is damp and then comb it through and let the hair dry. It doesn't leave the hair in the least bit greasy unless you use too much.
Going back to Bobbie, I can see her making quite an impact at the Village and look forward to perhaps meeting her next week?
Big hugs Sharon xx
She does have a look to her! Which is why I put in that very late bid! :) I think she'll keep her hair for now. It does suit her and she seems a strong personality like Hattie, looks like things will be interesting this coming winter!!
DeleteHugs Dee xxx
