ALL HALLOWS EVE.....

All Hallows Eve began as a pre Christian Celtic festival and the calender at that time would correspond to our present calender of November 1st, the day marked the beginning of Winter and at the time was called the festival of Samhain. It was the biggest and most significant holiday in the Celtic year.

The Celts believed that at the time of Samhain more than at any other time of year the ghosts of the dead were able to mingle with the living because at Samhain the souls of those who had died during the year traveled to the Otherworld on that day.
On that day all Manner of beings were abroad : Ghosts, Fairies and Demon's.. all part of the dark and the dread.

Over time the night before All Saints Day, All Hallows Eve has become known as Halloween the night that spirits walk the streets..... or children dressed in fancy spooky costumes !

Ashley and Martha wish you a Happy Halloween.

It is a big event in the US with children going round in fabulous costumes knocking on peoples doors and offering a treat or a treat! It's best to give a treat for who knows what tricks they may have up their sleeves!!

Oh is that a knock on the door?  Must be a little child dressed in fancy dress collecting trick or treats......

OR IS IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Lucas? No, he will be safely tucked up in bed like the good little lad we all know him to be.

I think the trick has been played on Dee - girls in ORANGE? Surrounded by ORANGE stuff? She can't be enjoying that!

  4. A very happy Halloween to all the Sasha Village clan too! Those two girls look very smartly dressed for the occasion.
You have collected some super minature Halloween pumpkins, bags and trinkets. Loving the display and introduction to today. Really puts me and mine to shame here (my feet still haven't touched the floor after last weekend's activities) although I have just put a selection of sweets out onto a tray for any 'Trick or Treaters' calling tonight.

    1. And a Happy Halloween to you and the Sasha Brood Kendal. I just love these Pumpkin batik dresses that Michelle made, I had one on order from her then bought another at the Chat n Snap because they are so nice!
The pumpkins are from last year along with the bags, just the big black skeleton and the sweet spooky lamp and the fluffy bird are this years.
You deserve a nice rest after traveling all the way down here then shopping til you was dropping!! :)
      xx

Yes, I do believe that the Elm Street movie is an educational one about trees on an avenue, very pretty and perfect for this time of year ;)
I went to a Bar-b-que for Halloween and met several warewolves and a vampire or two!
    Big hugs Sharon xxx

    1. They did. I have never seen the Elm street films and when I asked Connor and Teddy about it , they just put their heads under the covers and shook ! I suppose they were laughing at me not knowing? Anyway , they have been following me round the house all day and refusing to go out side to play and why they felt the need to close the curtains while it was still light?
      Hugs Dee xxx
