NEWS ON CAMERA

HOW MUCH !!!!

I think she's fainted!!!!!

*********************************************************************************

Well today Friday 13th they called to tell us cost to repair camera......£207 !!! the price of a nice Sasha ! Since it would cost considerable more to replace the camera since it cost a small fortune when he bought it and  as Paul owns several lens for it and this model is no longer available we will have it repaired.

And it could be back by next Friday if they have the part but will take a couple of weeks if not!!!!!

Paul says he's buying a card reader for the camera and that now I must download from that so I don't trip over cable again..... blimey anyone would think it was my fault.......

  1. I find that I now measure every expense in "Sasha Dollars" - "How much to fix the washing machine? Why, that could buy a nice doll!" It's like people are trying to deny me the very air I breath.

    2. (Perfect:
after yelling at google, it finally allows me to comment.)

It's a perfect Dee@SashaVillage, hihihi. Very dry (english?!) humour. I've so much fun.

Hope your camera enjoy it's repair! It's great you choose to keep it, although the price is high!

    3. Yes good dry English humour, old icy makes me laugh all the time ... 😏
Yes cheaper to,repair than replace 😀

  3. Surely the camera lens's should be compatible with other models of the same make? But it is still cheaper to repair it than to buy a new good DSLR, just a shame you have to wait a while. I always use a card reader for transferring photos, never a cable, because I would do exactly that - trip over the cable! Incidentally, do you ever use a tripod for your Sasha photoshoots?

    1. Yes they would but the cost of a comparable camera would have been at the very least double the bill plus.
I have not used a tripod with this camera, I did on the odd occasion with my click and shoot camera. It's something I need to try when I am taking my 'studio' style photos then they may not lean...... :)

    2. A tripod is brilliant for avoiding camera shake especially when taking photos close up - I used it for my Christmas photos of Jenny, Lexie, Annie and Emily.

    3. You mentioning it as reminded me that we have one and i may well use it again when I know I'm taking photos at home etc.

  4. 'When all is said and done' that's not too bad a repair price to pay for an original high end camera's repair.

Personally I don't compare these things to actual Sasha Dolls but to their outfits instead...SO £207 in my mind equals around five-six outfits which imo I can more easily do without.

I still use a cable when transferring my camera shots to the laptop but this is situated to the side of the table where I don't get in and out of the chair.

I gave up using a tripod after a couple of attempted sessions as find it far too fiddly attaching the camera to it in the first place.

Also I believe that Windows 10 can now level up your 'slanting' shots...so that might be worth looking into if you need to. (Luckily I've never been that way inclined so haven't needed to go down that path as yet.)

BTW. Very amusing shot of your doll fainted on the stairway!

    1. It's not I suppose but annoying as it was a still mistake to make, leaving the cable where I could trip over it or not getting a card reader after the first couple of times I did do it!
Unfortunately as I now use Paul's work computer t's up to his work to decide if they want windows 10! The ipad I have found has the facility to level up the photos but not so easy to get nice clear shoots, well not for me anyway.
glad you like the 'fainting' shot! :)

  5. Oh well.....it is price of all the fun of photographing the dolls for the rest of this year so that makes the expense so worth it.
I would think of it that way.
So she can get up, dust herself down and get ready for her first photoshoot with the repaired camera.

And I do sometimes use a tripod but my preferred way of taking indoor photos is to use bounced flash. I put a flash unit on the camera and point it at the ceiling.

    1. This is true and I am missing not having that camera to hand ! :) amazing all the things I want to take photo's of NOW! lol But I am making notes so I don't forget plus I'm considering getting my own camera.. not all singing and dancing but with a bit more oomph that my last one...
That's interesting about bouncing the flash off the ceiling ! although I was looking at a camera that makes photos in reduced light without resorting to using the flash... so many things to consider.....

    2. I avoid the flash like the plague. I use a setting on my camera which is automatic non flash and it adjusts to cope with lower light, though I do tend to set up lights on either side on dull grey days if necessary.

    3. That's something else I must get this year .. lights .. :)

  6. Oooouch! A lot for a repair but I'm sure will be worth it in the long run. As Jane says, the cost will balance out with being able to use it all year long taking dolly photos...well that's if Paul will let you loose with it again!
I always use the card reader that is built into my laptop, I've never used a cable because like you, I'd have done something very similar long before now I'm sure!!
