Of course storm Darragh arrived this weekend ! Why , well because we were booked to stay at a lovely hotel in Bath for the weekend and have a look round the Christmas market.
With a countrywide yellow weather warning moving to an amber one within reach of Bath and red for the Bristol channel just down the road, the Christmas market was cancelled on Saturday.
However we still went on Friday ahead of the storm because we also had other reasons we were travelling to Bath.
We stayed at the Bailbrook Hotel.

I met up with two friends who collect Roche dolls and also Sasha's to attend an open house by the maker of the Roche dolls. This is the front of her beautiful Georgian house.
Exciting to see around a beautiful Georgian property.
Some of the dolls.
Did I collect at doll while visiting? Is the pope a catholic?
I managed to get an Esme in Green which was the doll I was hoping to obtain. The nice thing about visiting was meeting the artist who makes them, along with her husband and also seeing all the dolls together.
Lynne is also an artist and sells her paintings, these four are of her garden and I would have been tempted to get one, if I'd had any money left after buying my doll . There were many others , many of Venice where she visits to paint often.
So a wonderful few days, waited on, lots of dolly talk, seeing dolls, seeing beautiful houses, etc .Next weekend is going to seems sooo quiet !
Now our break is over, it will be back to getting granny's shop ready for her Christmas trading. We'll need another weekend away after that!!
Have a great healthy fun filled week ahead

Oh what a wonderful place! The hotel such a beautiful house, a fine place to weather out a storm. And then an open house of a doll artist - what a big temptation... I know very well how difficult it is to be at such a place and to contain oneself not to buy everything you would love to have... we will meet an artist next weekend we know very well since he is a friend of ours, he will have to vacate his studio and all his friends and customers are welcome to help emptying the place and we have to remember that we don't have enough space left (and money) to take all that we want...
ReplyDeleteHow great you have met the Roche Doll artist, that's sooo whew!!! Congrats!!!
You have been very brave to take only one little doll... but a cutie, she is!
It was wonderful, the hotel, the artist and her dolls and paintings and their house! Luckily lots of the dolls had been sold, so even if I had wanted to, there were not many left to buy and they are all NP price not 80's Sasha prices.
DeleteI bet you just have to buy at least one picture from your artist friend ! It would be so hard to resist :)
