I did not remember it being so PINK!
It's a metal four poster bed in a baby pink.
This is Sapphire showing her new quilt and pillow that arrived today from Nancy of Dollpatchworks on Etsy.
Another beautiful quilt custom made to my request of colours.
I love the mix of colours, I asked for the violet / purples to link in with Violet's quilt.
Now here is a chance for someone to get one of these quilts without having to wait for it to arrive from the US.
Nancy also made me a quilt for Violet , in the log cabin design , she made two, trying out different designs of placing the logs. Then gave me the choice of which one I preferred.
All was well, mine were sent and I saw the correct photo of the second quilt on Nancy's site. However as is the way with life sometimes the second quilt was the one that arrived not the one I chose! So I have offered to sell it on for Nancy. So below are some photo's of this beautiful quilt, if you are interested please contact me. Details on my sales page.
It is a beautiful mix of lilac, green and blue. Comes with the pillow shown.
A close up of the lovely fabrics.
Shown on the four poster .The cost is £25 plus postage.
Here is Violet looking at the quilt. Going back to the bed I did not remember it being pink and I am sort of wavering if I like the colour ? I would have preferred a white or cream one. The Sasha does fit the bed but I am wondering whether to sell it on and look out for a wooden four poster or keep it.
I may try it with the pink Valentine quilt tomorrow and a proper mattress to see if that improves the look. The quilt's look great on it.

Dee, paint the bed the right colour and it will be fine. Lovely quilts.
ReplyDeleteMm I'm liking this idea of painting it white or cream because it's a good bed apart from all the pink.
DeleteI would say the same, but - is it easy to paint?
ReplyDeletePerhaps it easier to decorate it with pinktones?
Very nice quilts - love them!
A second vote for painting ! It is meatal, so should paint ok. I could maybe give it a little antiquing ? Mind you I'd best see how the painting works first!! lol
Deleteit would be easier and a whole lot more satisfying to paint than the concertina lockable door gate I had to paint with anti rust paint for my Dad for our kitchen door when I was a teenager - that was a nightmare and so boring to paint. It was like painting a diamond trellis that kept on closing and opening up (so revealing bits I had missed).
ReplyDeleteYou could always ask Paul to make a wooden four poster bed as well... (to add to his list of woodworking jobs)
I agree, it's certaining not concertina just a little curvy and would be very satisfying to acheive what I'd like without spending any money other than on a very small pot of metal paint.
DeleteHad you been bad and your Dad set you that task to teach you a lesson??? I once had to paint five flights of stair banisters in our last house when Paul after paint five banisters said it was making him depressed!! So I came home from work every afternoon and painted a couple, every week day for a couple of weeks, then went back to the top and started on the second coat. Then he swept in and wallpapered and did top coat on walls, I having down the others and everyone congratulated him on a great job!
I need to wait a while before adding any more to Paul's list of woodworking jobs with the few items I have added for the Chat n Snap....... :)
Can you buy spray cans of paint that will stick to metal? I think that would prove easier than with a brush.
ReplyDeleteThe patchwork quilts look gorgeous and love how you have chosen Violet's and Sapphire's colours ....although Violet's correct one hasn't yet arrived..
Paul suggested using a spray can. Not sure how good that would be in my hands!! lol
Deletebut I may try that first.
I do love the colours of these two quilts, Violet's is the same as one shown but with a subtle difference.
The trick with spray painting is to get a large cardboard box lined on the inside with newspaper. Take the bed apart, place one part in the lined box and spray one side of the bed THINLY from a distance, not really close up, but within the borders of the box (hence the need for the box to be large). Leave it to be touch dry then gently turn it around and spray the other side. Move it once touch dry and do another part of the bed the same way. You could speed this up by having several spray boxes or spraying one side of several parts of the bed if you can fit them all in the box. Spraying thinly one or 2 layers means no running drips and a fine brushless finish. Good luck.
Delete... and then wait until darkness, move outdoor earing dark clothes and spray the wall of one no so lovely neighbor with nice colours and any quote wich comes just to your mind... don't forget putting the spraycan in their waste.
DeleteThen come home wisthling a nice little melody. - Just kidding, of course!
Ha Ha!! Now we know what you got up to in your youth!!! Let's hope none of your old neighbours love Sasha and reads this blog!!!!!! Lol
DeleteI know you are just dreaming :)
The quilts are beautiful, so intricate. Did you say some of them come from the UK?
ReplyDeleteDo you have a canopy or curtains for the bed? Even wrapping the posts in ribbon could change the look without the problems of painting.
Looking forward to seeing Violet's and Sapphire's beds all made up when you get both quilts.
They are beautiful, they are all made by Nancy in the US, but the second one on this post is for sale because Nancy sent the wrong one, so I would post it from here.
DeleteThe bed came with a canopy but it's pink, so not any good.
I cannot wait to get Violet's quilt and to set up their beds! :)
Forgot to say I like the ribbon idea, I had thought of putting tiny fairy lights over canopy rails when I first bought it a couple of years back but it's stayed wrapped up until now.
DeleteI can see I will have to have a few try outs of different things.
Hi Dee
ReplyDeleteStill a little damp around the edges here and using a very LOUD generator for a little power so have a chance to look through blogs.
We bought the little lass next door one of the bedstead style beds like this one but it was a disgusting, bright Barbie pink. She adored it when she was 5. By 9, she still wanted it but realized it clashed with her lavender bedroom so we tried spray paint. It took 4 coats and would have been cheaper to buy a new bed than the 3 cans of paint it took - but that was probably because of the very bright colour and her wanting it white. It did look good though, so with your paler pink it is probably worth doing. Good luck! Jenni xx
Hi Jenni
DeleteGlad you have some power even if you'll be deaf once it's all over!! Mm a little worrying that it took four coats!!
I'll have to give it a go and hope for the best!!.
Dee xx
This is a lovely little bed Dee, and the quilts are gorgeous. I would agree with the other comments that the bed could be spray painted quite easily, and Anne (Dollmum) has the best idea when suggesting do it inside a box, I've done this with dollshouse things and it really does cut down on the mess....I've done it without the box too, which is why I know that the box method definitely is less messy! LOL
ReplyDeleteAlso, I liked the suggestion that Rosie put forward, for ribons wound around the posts. Or perhaps ribbons and little artificial roses, they generally come on those green wire stems and could look beautiful and make the bed look like it belongs to a little Princess....which of course it really does, doesn't it! (I'm talking about the doll Dee, NOT you!!!! ;) only kidding!)
Thanks Sharon, I will have a go at spraying, Paul knows all about these things but I may have a go myself!
DeleteWhen I first bought it I was going to wrap fairy lights round the canopy rails but ribbons and flowers sound good too! Looks like this could be a lovely bed when all in place!
You are right just perfect for a little princess, and I'm a Queen :) well my manager at work calls me Queenie!! I think it's because she thinks I think the place is my domain ...she could be right :))
I think spray painting it would work really well as previously suggested. However, I can also picture the bed pink with either white eyelet or tulle/netting used as a dust ruffle or drape. Very sweet and girly.
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for spraying.:) The white eyelet or tulle canopy sounds nice too! I'm beginning to wish I had two of these beds so the twins could have one each!
