HE OR SHE??

THAT IS THE QUESTION?

Jenni has set us a question about her Gregor?Sasha. He started life as a Red haired Gregor and was had his eyes painted by Melody Mock and turned into a girl But Jenni cannot quite find it in her to see him as a her!

Here are some photo's

Lovely dress.

Love the eyes and the freckles.

Personally I think that in lots of cases a Gregor turned into a Sasha still looks like a Gregor, their boyishness shines through!

And I think that this young lad looks like a boy wearing a dress, I think that with his new face painting he would make a great boy, needing a lovely Celtic name.I think with his hair being so short he does not quite make it as a girl.

She was named Ruari the female of the Gaelic name Rory.I think Rory needs to get a nice pair of trousers and a very boyish top and he would be a very handsome lad.

What do other's think ? Jenni awaits your comments, to decide this one's future.....

  1. It's exactly what I'm thinking: the boy's 'shining through'. Is it real or is it in my head?
    (Harry Potter asks Dumbledore:)

(Looks a bit like Tilily, but I thought she was a former Sweater Girl)

    1. She was Tilily's sister. Repainted by Melody a short while after Tilily as an Irish girl, but I think she was originally a Gregor Cord boy.
I bought her in her original green velvet dress and raincoat but have always felt that she was not happy as a girl. Since I have a special love for boy dolls, I thought it might just be in my head too, so I thought I'd ask for the opinion of Village readers.

  2. I think I have to agree. He looks like a boy to me, a very handsome, cheeky looking boy! And yes, Rory would be the perfect name for him to have. I know that some girls have very short hair like this, I did myself when I was little....everyone called me 'son' unfortunately!!! But this one shouts "I'm a boy!!" to me! Lovely dress though!

  3. Fabulous dress and the eyes are absolutely stunning , but I agree she still looks very boyish. I think when girls have the short 'bouncy' style it needs to be styled differently. I'm currently trying a blonde boy with the front swept sideways and flattened down as a very deep side-part/ fringe - with the crown almost backcombed - and the nape 'tapered' - but I still suspect he'll end up with a wig/reroot!

    1. I tried every style with his hair but it just doesn't lend itself to styling. He just looks like a boy fooling about with his sister's ribbons or playing with a jar of hair gel! You are right, a wig would be the only way to make him into a real girl.....but it feels wrong, he seems to 'want' to be a boy!

  4. This one is a boy for sure. I think he would look great in a flecked green and brown sweater and cords.

  6. I agree, it is a boy. It would be interesting to see what the doll looked like wearing typical boy clothes. For my own dolls I recently bought a very nice boy's outfit from Nadia from Switzerland - trousers, a button-down shirt and a short-sleeved pullover to wear over the shirt. I could imagine him looking lovely wearing a similar outfit in "his" colours - green, brown, beige. Nadia is a very nice lady and sometimes makes outfits on personal order, maybe this could be an option.

    1. Thanks Distel. I agree, I love Nadia's outfits and I have just the outfit you describe on Duncan my red haired cord boy although if you look at photo's on post before the he/ she ones you'll see them on Hattie were my daughter changed them round when I was asleep!

    2. Hi Distel
He was a boy and has decided that that is what he wants to be henceforth. My Gregors are my special kids and I am more than pleased to have another by. Thank you for the clothing suggestion. We have lots of boys here and are very short of clothing so I'll look for Nadia's outfits.

  7. Before finally making up my mind to say that I personally think that he still does have an Irish boy's look about him (with his green eyes, freckles and red hair) I'd like to see something feminie done with the hair style (eg making a side parting and sweeping the fringe to the side and adding a bow or hairslide.).....as I think that it is the hair that isn't exactly helping him look like a girl.

Then finally as the above comment suggests see him dressed as a lad in greens and browns.
Hopefully by then I'm sure that we will all have come to a decision.

    1. Kendal I think that a red haired cord boy no matter how you slick his hair or how many ribbon's you add will always be a red haired cord boy! Some boy's just will not be kept down!! :)

  8. HURRAH!!!!!
I am so glad that I wouldn't be doing him down if I put him back to being a boy! I love the Gregor's best and it feels like a spot of Gregor abuse to put him in girly stuff. Yesterday was the first time he wore a dress, just to see whether I was missing something.
I've just sent Dee a photo (badly taken) of his usual girl look as a tomboy, and then as a boy. As we are flooded and living in our upstairs rooms (wellies on to go to the downstairs bathroom!) all the kids clothes are squished in a cupboard, so the outfit is not very inspired, but he is DEFINITELY now Rory. (Sorry to dear Melody Mock, who painted him as a her many years ago) Oddly,, once dressed as a lad, he stood up straighter and looked straight ahead, whereas before ho kept looking down. Can dolls get depression?!

    1. Hi Jenni

I have added his Photo's to next post so people can see that he truly wants to be a boy with lovely green eyes and freckles!
I'm sure the odd Gregor now and then would rather show their feminine side but some times you have to go with their flow and the boy will out!!
Yes I do truly believe that dolls can get depression, I have had a sufferer or two here over the years. :)
