YOUNG AND OLD

This is Sophie Elizabeth , she is a Gotz  Sofie made in 2000.She is my only girl from the later Gotz production. She comes in a blue jumpsuit with a wooden hammer, ruler and pencil, to show she is a wood worker or Maintenance person.
So she was dressed on Shelly's, looking very serious and quietly waiting. It took a while for me to give in and buy her but she had patiently waited for it to happen.
When she arrived home I promised her that she would not have to wear such boyish clothes unless she wanted too!
Sophie is a very quiet girl, happy to stand on the side lines watching what the others are doing, never pushing herself forward but happy when she gets a chance to shine.

Here you can see her sweet face, I love that she has brown eyes and blonde hair like my youngest daughter Courtney.

She loves this pink smocked dress  and the pink socks and shoes. Secretly I think she's a girly girl not a boyish girl and so never looked happy in her blue jumpsuit!

A last look at her pretty pink outfit.

Now Sophie has been joined by Ava .

Ava is one of the older Gotz girl's here and from the mid 60's.

Ava is a pale skinned brunette Gotz and I found her quite by chance late one evening on US Ebay , fortunately she was on a  buy it now price , so I asked if the Lady would sent to UK, luckily she agreed and the deed was done. Her seller who was not a collector of Sasha's and was selling her on behalf of her husband from a clearance he had done, had fallen in love with this lovely girl and was hoping that she would not sell and then she could keep her, she found her as I do a quite serene looking young girl.

She is missing the first row of her fringe and at some time I will have it re rooted but for now , she's happy to live with it, not being a vain child.

Her pale pink dress with a hint of raspberry suits her pale skin and being another quiet little thing she gets on well with her sister Sophie.

Many moon's ago I did not like the Gotz!!! Now it would appear that I own more Gotz than Trendon ! Have no idea how that happened but me I just go with the flow.......

  1. Both girls are beautiful Dee. It's funny because I was just this moment looking at photos of my own 'only' later Gotz girl, my Wibke with her repainted eyes by Shelly. She too is a quiet little girl, funny that! I love how you have both these girls dressed, they look lovely, the colours of these dresses look perfect on these two girls. And I definitely agree that this girl looks very happy dressed all girlie as she is!

  2. Darn it, I just type up my comment then when I published it, got an error message and no comment posted.
    Here we go again:
I love both these girls and I'd just been looking at photos of my own 'only' later Gotz girl, my Wibke with repainted eyes by Shelly. And funnily enough, my Liesl is also very quiet and unassuming....and quite girlie too. I wonder if they're related? ;)
I love both girls outfits too, they're so pretty on them and suit them perfectly.
    Big hugs Sharon xx

    1. It's so annoying when that happens! And then you have to try and remember what you wrote and it's never exactly the same!! :)

  3. Lovely little ladies! I saw Sophie Elizabeth languishing and hoped she's find a great home. We already have Maria here, so I couldn't come up with a convincing excuse to adopt her myself. I have always thought that her original outfit was oddly unflattering. Who decided a little girl should be sent out to work as a carpenter whilst all her siblings sit around at home enjoying life?

    1. Thanks Jenni
I always wanted a Maria and missed out a few times and then wandered off to the earlier dolls and that was that!! Luckily Sophie already had her feet well under the kitchen table, so she was safe!!
I agree about her outfit , very boyish but was probably to be politically correct! But I don't see Gregor the Ballet Dancer or housewife!!! I feel Sophie is like me, she'll help out and get her hands dirty but only up to a point!! anything too mucky then she'll be off to put kettle on while the boy does the job!! :))

  4. Very lovely post Dee. It is so nice to see the two, very different Gotz girls together in their gorgeous dresses. They look so pretty and it is nice to read about their history and your thoughts about them. Love it :). Hugs, xx

  5. Great to be back commenting after four whole days without an internet connection! Didn't think at the time that I'd survive!

Sofie's original royal blue zipped jump suit outfit was the uniform that the Israli/Jewish children who lived on a collective farm wore..... and was first seen on several of the studio dolls.
I loved her wooden accessories of the hammer, yardstick and red spotted pencil....... although thought that the cap was rather skimpy on her full head of hair.

I too like the brown eyes/blonde hair combination and was thrilled that it was almost identically repeated from the earlier the No-navels (that both you and i have an example of.)
We have to agree though that Sophie Elizabeth looks really pretty here, as every a little girl should, in her traditional smocked dress.

    1. Welcome back Kendal, you were missed ! :) I also love her tools but not the outfit much to industrial for me! The No navel blonde brown eyed combo are just gorgeous and I was so pleased to get my girl Sansa this year, having admired your girl when I visited :)
Glad you agree that Sophie looks good and deserves to wear pretty clothes!
