So we travelled to Dawn's to enjoy an afternoon of Sasha time.
First for your delight are Jane's lovely girls.
Next is Mary's girl, this young girl once lived in the village under the name of Lara but she was such an adventurer that she needed to go off to live with someone who was always travelling. I love the colours of her outfit.
Now we have a window full of beauty, not sure who the NP's belong to but the little darlings and the boy with the fizzy hair and his sister beside him belong to Joyce and the three to the right and the baby belong to Petrana.
Back to the other window and we see three of Jane's on the right and two of Mary's on the left.
Gill's girls checking out the place.
I think these dolls belong to Callie?
The dolls on the left are Theresa's and on the right Janet's
a closer look at Janet's girls
Janet's Harlequin , who I love.
Dawn's twins in their pram in the hall.
Some of Dawn's gallery of Pram's.
Dawn's doll's and toys.
A few more prams
More dolls and prams and a lovely Sasha sized school desk just behind.
An old toy train
A beautiful detailed boat.
A cupboard full of Sasha treasure.
Theresa's boys bringing in the sheep?
Jocelyn's dolls.
Loved this on Dawn's wall above the fireplace.
And this row of Horses and hounds.
slightly closer view.
A long view on one side of the room with the Sasha's etc. you can see Hattie standing in front of our little group.
Boy on the back " Is it my turn ? "
" Nop!"
Outside Dawn's garden was looking fabulous. This tree that's trying to escape from the house, is Pineapple Broom ( Cytisus Battandieri ) which smells of Pineapple and Dawn's says fills the evening air in the summer.
A wonderful display of pots of white white and green.
The vegetable plot was looking lovely and tidy!
Wonderful views across the grounds.
A watering can
Gorgeous lilac's blues and purples filling the borders.
A view up to the patio at the back of the house where people were eating lunch.
Love this purple lupin
The border sweeps round in a semi circle.
beautiful large Campanula
Here you can see the beautiful big deep borders sweeping round
A large greenhouse in the distance.
The semi circle opens with a central path that takes you to an ornamental fountain/ pond.
Now I am afraid to say that I got distracted at this stage of my garden photo shoot for which I apologise that we did not complete our tour especially because Dawn's garden was looking beautiful and full of lovely colour but you'll see why it happened in part two !
so back inside another lovely boat
These girls belong to Plum and I was admiring the girl's outfit when I finally realised why I thought it looked familiar was it's one of Sharon's!!
I should have known by the socks!! on the left you can see Rosie's gorgeous knitwear on her two girls and baby.
Cathy's girls
I think but am not sure this may be Lee's pram and baby.
Dollmum and Miss Dmd's family of dolls
Not sure who these belong to? could be Judith?
These boys were on the move.
worth a second look, I'm liking these girls with the real hair wigs in plaits.
Just love Jane's single fringe girls!
Last photo in this batch of this lovely Hydrangea by the front door.
Well you can see why I have had to split this post into two due to all the photo's in this one and yet more for the next. It was a lovely lovely afternoon with lovely Sasha friends and wonderful food and a beautiful setting. Dawn's garden was looking fab, everyone's dolls gorgeous and there was a small sales table which I did buy from despite intending not to!
I would like to Thank Dawn and Rosie for all their hard work and for inviting us to spend a lovely summers afternoon in some wonderful company.
*******************************************
It was a wonderful afternoon at Dawn's house - I think she ordered the weather, it was good, especially after rain yesterday. I echo your compliments about the food, company and setting.
ReplyDeleteThe pram on the table you thought might be Lee's was actually Rosie's. Our pram was in pieces in the purple plastic box beside it - we're restoring it (my birthday gift to me). Rosie brought her pram along to compare with ours and Dawn's wonderful collection of prams.
It was indeed and her weather order was spot on! :)
DeleteI knew someone would set me right don't know where I got the idea it was Lee's? I meant to take a photo of your dismantled pram, a lovely birthday present if I may say :) we do know just what to buy ourselves :)
don't worry, it is being well documented, the restoration will appear in due course on my blog.
DeleteThat's a good idea, for people who may wish to restore theirs :)
DeleteI have battled to find any 'how to restore a miniature pram' or similar type articles online, some companies specialising in doing the restoration for you but only one article on a blog about the restoration of an ancient full size pram (which was fascinating). So there will be a blog series, but the restoration has to wait until later in July, I have my hands full with day job and project at the moment which must come first.
DeleteHave you emailed Catherine? She restored her pram last year and did a wonderful job, she could give you a few tips or a few placed to obtain items you may need for the job.
DeleteThat is the problem with having to work to pay for all these lovely things it does get in the way of actually being able to work on them :)
Thanks for all of the photos. Looks amazing! The garden looks gorgeous & the dolls, well ... what can I say. Simply stunning! Going back for another look. Looks like the perfect afternoon - good friends, good weather & lovely dolls with all of their unique clothes, prams & props. Doesn't get any better...Carol
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing Carol and such a beautiful garden, wish I'd remembered to finish going round after I'd taken the other photo's I needed. Dawn's house is an wonder for all things Sasha and other toys :)
DeleteJust found this post. What a wonderful venue! Dawn's house and grounds are indeed very beautiful - the perfect backdrop for all those grgeous Sashas.

DeleteWonderful photos Dee and thank you for posting them. I would love to go to one of Dawn's gatherings some day. I have been fortunate to meet her at the two Sasha Festivals I attended and she is such a lovely lady! Dawn's garden is fantastic and it is so nice to see the grounds around her home. Of course, the Sashas and prams are fantastic too! I am so happy you were able to go and enjoy the day with friends and Sashas! Just wonderful! :) xxx

DeleteSame to you too Dee. Roll on October, that's what I say :) x
DeleteNot long now Louise!! :)xx
DeleteJust loving these photos of Dawn's garden which is looking absolutely magnificent this year !
ReplyDeleteGreat colour scheme of the greens, lilacs, mauves and purples in the wide sweeping boarders with the odd corner displays of the green and whites. (Super idea of those granite grey planters gathered and graduated together to form that very attractive corner triangle.)
Fab vegetable garden. So reminded me of mine, in my last but one house, with those attractive straight rows. Liking too, how it has been part shielded from view with the wooden fence and those wonderful Lupins. This popular flower from my childhood,. along with the Campanula, seem to be making a very welcome comeback to our gardens over the last few years.
The views are simply stunning with the matured trees, lake, boat house and swans and their cygnets, and well cut grass lawns which seem to stretch forever into the far distance. (Reminded me of my visit last month to Eastwood Hall and the Sasha Celebration Weekend.)
Inside, those two wooden boats are so attractively displayed on those beams and hadn't seen the horse and hounds boarder before. Well remember Dawn's Silver Cross twin dolls pram. (My daughter had one in white with a navy hood and apron and two twin Tiny Tears Dolls.)
Lovely displays of all the Sasha Dolls, both the visitors and those that live there, plus Dawn's ever increasing minature doll's pram collection.
So pleased that the weather allowed you to eat out on the patio and wander outside. Would have been such a shame not to have been able to meander and admire that wonderful outside environment.
Dawn's garden looked beautiful , they'd put a lot of work into it.The colour palette was gorgeous, I do love the lilac's, blue's and purples.
DeleteThat interesting you saying that you'd not seen the horses and hounds before as I did not think I had, so they could be a new addition and a lovely one at that.
The weather was perfect , apart from it getting quite windy at one point, for eating out side.
:)xx
Sorry to comment on an oldish post, but I have to say that your friend Dawn lives in some beautiful surroundings! England at its summer finest!
ReplyDeleteNo worries I always get an email if someone comments, so know to come answer :)
DeleteYes Dawn does live in a beautiful part of the English countryside and she's made it even more so with her wonderful garden :)
