SOME SPRING COLOUR IN THE GARDEN

Although overcast today I did managed to get out and take a few photo's .

I thought I would start with a lovely close up of Sansa.

Sansa's in the shade garden.

She's soon joined by Ashley.

Then Martha arrives to look around.

A closer view of the girls.

Agnetha joins the others looking at all the new growth.

When Raven arrives she starts asking when Mum and Dad are going to pull all this grass up that's grown over the winter.

Ginny's making sure she does not tread on any bugs that may be lurking in the gravel searching for food!

Winter wants to known why she's grown? Is it because she's standing on the step?

A birds eye view of the girls in the shade garden.

All seven girls.

The girls start walking along the step ready to head back inside.

Raven , Agnetha, Winter and Sansa lead the way.

The girls all start making there way towards the house, it's starting to cloud over and get a little chilly so it's time for tea and toast and a Saturday afternoon film !

  1. This is a lovely post. The girls have brightened my day and your garden has given a much needed glimpse of things to come. (I'm avoiding going out into ours in case somebody hands me a trug and commands me to weed...)
I especially like the bright outfits that Sansa and Martha are wearing. How DO you manage to find socks and shoes to match each outfit so perfectly, though? I'm guessing there is a lot of work goes into that, but you make it seem so easy!

    1. Glad you enjoyed it Jenni. :) I do love the bright colours as well as the pastel ones. I cannot believe how I have managed to find almost every outfit a matching pair of shoes ans socks! I'd like to say it was all carefully thought out and purchased to match !.... I'd like to say that but it's more a case of buying shoes in different colours working out what I did not have and with the socks a little like a magpie and seeing all the lovely colours and going ' ooh pretties treasures! ' and gathering them up and stashing them away ! because as I have said before and will no doubt say it again I do love colour!!! :)
so of course a lot of work went into it... ;)

  2. Don't they look lovely in that background and all so perfectly colour coordinated, and I love the way you've posed them adding each one by one - but seriously Dee, why don't you get them all kitted out in some old togs and get them grubbing out the weeds for you - no teatime treats until they've finished!

    1. What a great idea Jude! I'll have to find them some old rags to wear and send them all out to weed.. only problem last time I tried this they all sneaked out the back gate and across the fiedl and were found running up a large bill in the local tearooms ! I did not realise just how much cake and sandwiches could be eaten in such a short time! and the two that had bot run off had pulled up everything in the garden including the new shoots of flowers!
So I have given up on that unless they are supervised

  3. Don't they look gorgeous, each one looks like a pretty exotic flower sprung up amonst the greenery. I really do love these girls and their outfits, they look so lovely!
I agree with Jude though, you could make them earn their keep by helping with the weeding, I'm going to try this with mine....I hope it works!!!

  4. What a beautifully staged post! A step by step introduction to colour being added into the shaded area/room of your truly wonderful garden.

You must have had a very steady hand when standing them up for them to remain upright without any tumbles or toppling over whilst you were photographing them .....as we had a slight breeze up here.

I'm pretty certain from these photos that Ashley is a '69 girl and Sansa and Agnetha are '70s dolls.
Looking and comparing at where these doll's fringes start can you now tell which year the other four
    are from?

I'm thinking that this would be MY favourite part of your garden.... with my skin not liking the sun. Is there a seat or bench somewhere near for me to sit and enjoy looking at your 7 gorgeous No-navels if I came down?

    1. Thank you Kendal. As is the way of most of my photo shots the idea formed as I looked for somewhere to stand them all! I was lucky tht the shady part of the garden is slightly sheltered, so although there was a breeze it did not thankfully make any of them tumble!
It was more a case of finding a level place to stand them.

I will take note of your info re who is 69 or 70. Paul did say to me that I'll have to bring them all up on our next visit, so you could date them for me!!

unfortunately although that's the shade garden there is no where to sit, however just along the path from there, is a small round patio tucked away under the trees and surrounded by plants , that is a lovely place to sit on a hot summers day due to how much cooler it is and it as a small table and chairs just waiting for the weary traveller to rest and look back on the garden......

  5. I think you're definitely counting towards that '12' no navel collection, I almost expected to see the other 5 no navels walk into the shade garden to join the current 7.
I hope they enjoyed the Saturday afternoon film.

  6. Hi Dee
Love all of the smock dresses on your beautiful girls. The garden is the perfect backdrop for all of the colours. The light seems to compliment all of the colours. I love that you post close up photos & then the same girls from a distance. They truly are a picture of spring which we are waiting for here in Canada. I can still see snow in the garden!!

    1. Thank you Carol. I do like trying to use the garden if I can, it does add more to the photo's. So pleased you like the extra close up photo's I sometime think I am putting on too many photo's but if they look nice I like to share them :)
SNOW! We really really do not want any snow after the last couple of winters! we are big babies and are not used to the white stuff!! It looks beautiful once it's fallen but is nightmare to go to work in!! So I feel for you and hope spring arrives in Canada very soon :)

  9. Today at 6:02 PM

    Hi Dee

Your garden looks lovely. What a wonderful retreat! Looks like the girls like to play there. It seemed like a game if hide and seek because more and more came out of the shrubbery. They looked like they were were looking for something and then more would appear. In some of the photos the girls look like they are holding hands - very sweet. Just love all of the greenery. Their clothes are amazing as always, complete with the matching socks and shoes. Beautiful afternoon playing in the garden. It was even warm enough to go without a coat! Wish I was there!
