DANGEROUS DOLLY DAYS AHEAD.....

Some times I get the urge to spring clean only not just the house also the dolls in the house !!
It makes it a very dangerous time to live in this Village for anything made of vinyl !

I know there are now some of you out there , gasping for breath and hyperventilating as you read this but it needs to be said! I remember the first Sasha I ever resold, it was a later Gotz girl Ivette. She was so much paler than all my other Sasha's and I needed some cash, so her name was first up!

I remember wrapping her to be posted and being almost in tears that I was selling her! I felt so bad and unkind and even worried about how she would be treated!

Would she be kept in her mint condition and left once again in the box I had saved her from? or would she at least be placed on display so she could see life happening around her !
Any one coming across this post and reading it will be thinking...Nutter!! but those who collect things of whatever style be they bears, dolls or china will understand the feelings expressed above.

To say I have moved on from that first resale is an under statement, I have sold many dolls since the first , usually to purchase another more expensive doll and now most of the time I am less attached when I wrap them to post. I still chat to them and won't wrap them until I am going to the post office, don't want them spending any longer in the dark than necessary !

Some times I have thought after they've been gone What an earth did you sell her for!! But by then it's too late and I have adjusted and moved on.

So it's spring and the dangerous time for the dolls is upon us! Will everyone survive to stay another year or will some find themselves having their photo's taken and then taking a trip in a dark cardboard box to a new home.....

Some times I think I have too many and need to whittle them down to just a few...BUT which few..... who should go Hattie? No Hattie is a keeper whatever happens, Toby or Zak?...No two scamps  that are just so good together.....Belle? Robin? Erik? No I can say that almost all of the Sasha's and Gregor's are ones that I want to keep , only the odd one's name drifts across my mind now and then and what usually happens when I have this..... I must reduce the amount of  dolls in this house! ...and sell off a few ....more start arriving over the next several months taking me back up to the numbers I was at before I started!!

So this time I am trying to not to start with the Sasha's and Gregors and sell a few of my Kidz n Cats dolls that have shot up from about five to nine! Not that a Sasha or two might not find their photo's on my sale page but only time will tell with that....

Well I am off to take some photo's of a few dolls I must sell! I don't think a Sasha's in the frame.......but ....once I start snapping who knows what will just before my lens.....

  1. What even that beautiful redhead in the last photo went on to pastures new? Dee were you drunking that day? She's just gorgeous, how on earth could you bear to part with her!!!
Having said that, I know exactly what you mean and am already compiling a short list of dolls that are going to be 'for the chop' within the next couple of weeks. Some are Sashas and some are other dolls. I must admit that it went through my mind to sell one or both of my Kidz n Cats but I only have the two so at the moment they have a reprieve. But two Sashas have already been earmarked and a couple of BJDs.....that could all change but for the moment it is as it is. It has to be done!!!!
I wish you luck with your selling, I can relate to the crying bit because I've been there, done that too.... but yes, it does get easier, doesn't it!
    Big hugs Sharon xxx

    1. I Know Sharon! She was a 69 dungaree's girl and I did love her but then some other Sasha caught my eye or a spring clean came and she was off!
I think If I had kept to my first three Kidz n cats I would not feel over full of them! Mind you I have put them on ebay and someones asked for a BIN price for one and I'm thinking, should I keep her!!! lol Nightmare!
and yes it does get easier..same as it gets easier to buy more... :) xxx

  2. Please don't ever sell Hattie or the Scamps, unless your life depends on it. :( They're the stars of the blog (along with Mossy, of course), and you'd miss them terribly, and... NooOOooOoo!

I just know Simply Sasha is rubbing her hands with glee, hoping maybe a Gotz is going. ;)

  3. Hi Dee
My Kidz are in for a cull too - can't say I like the latest ones, though I thought I might from the stock photos. Think I'll aim to get back to four between Mum and me - two each. Surprised that your Nicola is going as you spent so long trying to find her, though.

The Sashas are harder for me as so many have personal meaning for me now.

The first I ever parted with was an Ivette too and I didn't suffer any pangs really, her hair was rediculously long and I never warmed to her pale, faded looking eyes. She lives next door as I sold her for a few pounds to Rosie's Dadxxxxx I mean Father Christmas, when there wasn't enough in their family kitty for the Sasha she longed for. The poor doll rejoices in the name Rapunzel now - R was only 5 when she got her! She's the only doll left there now as R is a cool young lady of 13 and 'doesn't do dolls anymore!'

Can't imagine all the No navels or the new No noses getting their marching orders from The Village - or Hattie and the boys, or your Velvets. So the blog is safe! Phew!

    1. Hi Jenni , I know what you mean about the new dolls. I cannot quite warm to them although they are nice to look at!
I am still unsure about selling Nicola... she may suddenly get a reprieve.. as I may also sell a Sasha !!! .

The Ivette was very pale and looked so out of place with all my other earlier Sasha's and gregors and their warm colours but I did feel bad as one of my Gregor's used to hold her hand ( Not done by me , just found them that way!!) and he did give me the cold shoulder for ages after she left!!

Yes all teh blogger Sasha's , Gregors , bears or newbies are safe... :) xx

    1. I am ashamed to say I cannot remember Louise ! She may have even been moved on in a cull of several dolls that I did not really do much with and when I thought I had too many!! I know I know ..what was I thinking... :)xx

  5. We unfortunately all have to go through these 'dad/sad' times every so often.....and mostly with the usual regrets afterwards.

I tend to find it is very slightly easier if the exchange is for another much 'wanted/desired' Sasha doll but for other reasons like house repairs (and not even your own)! , stronger 'specs', due to sight failing, replacement fencing etc. I find that a somewhat even 'bitter pill to swallow!'

Your later ex Gotz Angela was extremely pretty as was your Frido dungaree girl (who if I remember rightly, went shortly after the arrival of the beautiful Miss Paige) .....you deciding that it wasn't necessary to have two of the same style/example.... so when looking at it from this angle you kept the 'right' doll.)

Pleased to hear that those of your now famous blogspot characters Hattie, twin Velvets, Toby and Zac, haven't been short-listed sand so are definitely staying at The Village.

    1. Proof reading AFTER publishing....
....'dad/bad 'and 'sand/and' plus 'even your own)! ,/own!)....
I can easily see that this second pair of 'reading only' specs needs to be updated 'sooner rather than later!'

    2. Yes most do have to part with a Sasha or two, to either buy another or just to regain some space!
I am at the stage where it is much harder to part with any as they are mostly all the one's I want to own.
But sometimes someone as to be sacrificed to the god of want or need!! But their are those who can never leave! :)

  6. Dee it is always hard to "right" size our collections. I have had some regrets of dolls that were adopted but overall, I think the adoptions were for the best. Especially those that went to great new Moms!!! We can only do our best and hope that it was a good move! Hang in there and enjoy your fabulous dolls! :) xxx

    1. You are correct Ginger, it can be hard but I do look at it as if no one ever sold any we'd never get the Sasha's we want, so buy selling a doll I may be making someone else very happy ! :)xx
