So 2024 is on it's way out ! What a year it's been in the doll world in the Sasha village ! Many dolls have left to join other families , I should have kept count ! Naturally other dolls have arrived but many more left of that I am sure , well almost ;)
I have also moved on dolls clothing and other items and also household items etc. I have felt very proud of myself in the last six weeks or so in managing to get lots of good quality items out the door within days of deciding they can go, instead of the usual making the decision then having them sit around ijn bags or boxes for months and months.
I wanted to donate this wooden dolls bed, that I didn't need but felt it would sell better with bedding. So I spent one evening making a mattress with a cover , a padded quilt and a matching pillowcase, alas I didn't have any stuffing suitable to actually make a pillow.
I used some vintage new unused Laura Ashley fabric, that's been sitting around for a good 20 plus years and a piece of some leftover foam for the mattress. It was dropped off the following day, the Saturday before Christmas, at a local charity shop, along with some little miss books and a large musical snow globe.
Quite a bit of knitting for the dolls and the grandchildren has happened this year.
In the last few weeks I've been knitting berets for the dolls. I'm considering whether I should knit
enough to go with the Chat n Snap goodie bags I'm making up for this tenth and very last Chat n Snap. It will depend on if I have enough 4ply yarn available to use up. Which would then reduce my wool stash, would be good.
I also made some skirts and tops for my Roche dolls, all the skirts hand sewn so I could make them while watching the tv.
The plan to move from my studio up to Paul's old workshop was made but this then involved Paul clearing out the workshop, which took a few months and again things were sold off or moved on or dumped. So even more gone. But it's going to be a long job changing the studio over. Part of me wonders if I'm dragging my feet slightly, since it is me that usually supplies the impetus to get things rolling and then continued once a stop occurs.
So 2025 I need to settle on if I'm moving to the workshop totally and then actually make it happen before the year is over. But if I'm not then what changes do I need to make in order to be able to use my existing studio as it was intended.
Which means it will all continue next year. . . .
What a wonderful bed! And the bedding... whew! Our kids here are a bit jealous...
ReplyDeleteSo many things have happened 2024.
We wish you a happy, healthy and blessed 2025
and are looking forward to things going on here in the Sasha Village!
Thank you. Hope to finally keep stories happening every month
DeleteThat bedding is really lovely. We used to have Laura Ashley shops here in the US, but they all closed. I imagine they were too tasteful for the average American. It sounds to me like you got quite a bit accomplished in 2024, and have a good plan going into 2025.
ReplyDeleteI think the brand lost it's way after Laura Ashley passed away and they sold the business. I actually did for once! even I'm amazed :) lol
