MOVING ALONG STEADILY

Well it is moving along steadily. The plumbers gone off elsewhere while we get to the stage that he can return and put in the downstairs toilet, basin and radiator.

Paul finally knocked down the odd piece of wall that was sticking out from our change of position for the door to the cloakroom.

This is the view from the front door, you can see the new radiator already in place.

The view from living room to old bathroom, now the old toilets been removed and awaiting the plasterer to come and do all the walls. Then he spent the weekend putting up the plaster board inside the two rooms on the dividing wall and then on the new wall he'd built in the hall way.
You can see the new hall radiator, covered to protect it form all the dust!

I finished knocking off the tiles in both rooms and clearing up. However Paul found a cable in the wall, which he thought was no longer needed, I agreed, so he cut it! I checked and one of the phones had stopped working ! But the other was fine. However he just had to look in the box to see if he could fix it!

of course the wires just fell out and no phone at all or internet!! We needed to go and place the order for the bathroom vinyl ! So after messing about phoning our daughter on her mobile and getting her to check the internet for rewiring old phone boxes, we left her checking and we popped out and ordered the bathroom vinyl. Then returned and between them they managed to reconnect the phones and the internet but not to the computer!
On Monday Paul spoke to someone at his work and a visit to the shops and he connected the computer back to the internet and upgraded our hands free phones.
Lesson.. don't open the box and if you do take a photo of it before the wires fallout!

Soon to be new downstairs cloakroom.

and Utility room.

Late Monday morning  the plasterer arrived, having finished another job early, to start on these rooms.

He left at five ,having put insulated plasterer board up on the back external walls and given a leveling coat on the walls we'd removed the tiles from, the deep brown walls you can see.

The utility where he left his tools ready to start early on Tuesday.

The new wall in the hallway which Paul built , he plaster boarded this weekend once electrician and plumber had finished laying their cables and pipes. Then Monday night he put in the door linings for the plasterer to plaster up to.

Today while I was at work the plasterer came and finished these two rooms!

Both rooms finished and also the new replaced hall wall. So now the ball is back in our court. We need to let the walls dry out and while that's happening Paul can lay the floor tiles in both rooms. We are also considering getting the cloakroom painted and possibly papered before we call the plumber back to fit the toilet and basin. That way Paul won't have to try and paper with the toilet in the way.

Plasterer cannot come back and finish hallway until new front door goes in as we need to remove old door and frame and make it one space. But we have plenty to get on with while we wait for it to arrive.

    1. No you are not! :) naughty Queenie! At least you are not like my daughter who came home and said "oh is it still wet, can I write something on it?" no it's not still wet " oh I could scratch something!" NO and if I find anything they'll be trouble! I like the plasterer fresh and UNTOUCHED! :)

  2. Looks like it's really coming together. We've done the same thing: cut wires to phone and front doorbell (it's a good thing no one ever comes to the front door).

  3. Rather YOU than ME! Seeing all this here I know that I couldn't cope with anything like that! I'll just have to unfortunately stick with new builds!

Are you hiring a dehumidifier to help dry out the plaster or will you be good and just wait?
Well done both of you, it is going to be so worth it in the end.
