2014 IS THE YEAR OF THE BRUNETTE - JANUARY

Well it had to be really although I do love the red's so could easily have been persuaded to have another year of the red! But I do love the brunette's so finally 2014 is their year.

And first up we have a Brunette slated eyed Gotz girl waif. I have been searching all last year for a brunette girl to add to my Sasha family but always missed out on the one's that took my fancy. Then just over a week ago I was taking a late last look at Ebay before going to bed when I happened to go on the US site and this little one appeared and on a bin price.

I loved her on sight and quickly worked out what the sterling price was and bought her before someone else did. So she was posted from Canada last week and arrived on Monday in perfect time to appear as the very first Brunette of the year.
She has a row of hair missing at the front and some chest caving but other than that is perfect and a wonderful Sasha to have been my last purchase of 2013.

The beautiful dress and coat by Karen arrived on the same day , so were of course hers to wear to make her début . I was lucky to see these on Karen's site and snap them up.

So I am very happy to finally have a slated eyed brunette to complete my set of , blonde, red and brunette girl's. I have not quite settled on a name for her yet, it could be Kirsty ( Paul's suggestion ) or maybe Ava or maybe something completely different I'm waiting for her to decide...

  2. Just adoring your New Year Gotz lass shown here. She has such a gorgeous face with a lovely calm look about her.
The white Karen W. jacket suits her beautifully against her dark eyes and brunette hair.
A fabulous start to 2014. Lucky you.

  3. Being a lapsed brunette (now a grey!) I'm all for the Year of the Brunette. You have no idea how sad I was when I was a little girl and wanted a brown haired/eyed dollly daughter and the only ones I saw were the it-is-too-expensive-for-a-doll-Sashas that I was forbidden! Every December I hoped for one in my stocking but it never happened. Oh, I loved my blonde dolls but they were clearly adopted and not truly mine because they looked nothing like me!
So brunette Sashas of the world, unite! It's OUR turn now. LOL.
She's a beauty, Dee. She looks so serene.
    Happy 2014!
Here's to more dolly doings in the Village.

  5. She's much to beautiful to be called a waif :)
Writing of hair, my yougest of four has dark blonde hair. The rest of us are brunettes. The look on his face when he was about four and realized he was the only blonde in the family was priceless. He's eight now, and still not overly pleased that he doesn't fit the pattern.

    1. Oh poor boy! I'm one of five my eldest sister and youngest sister have brown hair and brown eyes like my Mum ,then my younger sister and brother and myself ( the middle three) were all blue eyed blondes like my Dad! At secondary school nobody believed that my eldest sister was my sister!!

  6. Heehee! It takes a while for little kids to realize that they don't have to look like copies of Mum and Dad to belong! You'd be surprised how often 8/9 year olds in my classes have asked me if I think they are adopted because they don't look like anybody else in their family. It can be quite painful for some children who genuinely believe they are changelings and not 'real' members of their families.
I do remember feeling devalued by doll manufacturers though because only blonde girls were, to my mind, considered pretty enough to be represented in doll form. My cousin has red hair and her early Sasha red haired girl was frequently called ugly by thoughtless adults who failed to see how that would make Bridget feel about herself as well as her doll. Now those dolls are the most sought after - how times change!

    1. That's so interesting to know and such a shame that because they don't look exactly alike that they think they were left on the doorstep!!
Being blonde I did not notice about the doll thing but having said that My sister was a brunette and my mum and grandmothers always bought us ( we are only 13 months apart in age ) dolls exactly the same but hers a brunette and mine a blonde.
I have always found this awful attitude to red haired children and people something that needs to be treated the same way as racism and stamped out! I had best stop before I get out my soap box!!!

  7. My mum tells me that when I was born I had bright red hair and my dad called me an Orangutan!!! Apparently the midwife almost wiped the floor with him!!! Then my hair went white blond and stayed very light for years. My son was born with black hair which went quite light then back to very dark again...now his hair is dark but his beard is quite ginger! He has brown eyes like his dad whilst mine are blue. It's funny how we all turn out!!
I love this new girl of yours Dee, she's beautiful, but then aren't all Sashas? I do like the Gotz girls and need to take more photos of my girls....now that the holidays are over and my family left today, I will hopefully have more time to play!! I also like your new girls outfit, it's really nice on her and the colours suit her perfectly!
