STILL WORKING...

on my portrait but I thought I would show you the drawing that Lindsey did of Paul a few weeks back.

This is a very good likeness of Paul for those of you who have never met him, although Lindsey is not happy with parts of it and wants to do another once she's finished my portrait.

  1. What a wonderful thing to have! A drawing of your husband and done by your daughter - a double treasure. Very well executed, Lindsey!
My daughter had' The human form' as her GCSE art topic and I really treasure her self-portrait from the back oil painting. How she managed it is beyond this unartistic bufoon! I was the only girl EVER not to be allowed to take art at GCE in my school....Miss Fielding was such a sweet, tiny lady and she cried when she told me of the decision - but me? I was sooo relieved. Even at 14, you know some things are not meant to be!
Artistic and balletic skills skipped a generation in my case, but is such a pleasure to see the wonderful work of young peope in both art forms.
Can't wait to see your portrait! Go Lindsey!

    1. I'm not sure I'll be getting to keep it, she's thinking of giving it to her granddad , Paul father. Well I do have the original and she may draw him again and I could have that one!
I cannot wait to show you all because it will mean it's finished and she'll stop asking me what days I'm home!! because she things I can sit about for hours!!! :)

  2. A very good likeness of Paul from my memory of him.... (but would also be very interested to hear about what she wants to change on her second attempt.)

Hopefully this (and/or the following one) plus your mother's oil portrait will be framed and hung in pride of place as they're definitely unique family treasures to be viewed for generations to come!
Congratulations Lindsey on giving them such wonderful and personal gifts.

PS. My daughter did a superb pencil drawing of my family home and although it never got quite finished due to her leaving school, immediately securing a job and then getting married, my parents had it framed and it hung over their mantlepiece for many, many years.
After they had both passed away Chon took it to her house.... although I would have loved to have kept it myself and displayed it here to remind me of my childhood home.

Looking forward to seeing her oil portrait of you very soon. Perhaps it could it be put on display for us to view at the CnS?

    1. I think her granddad's getting Paul one and I'm sure I can find a dark corner to hang by portrait in order not to frighten any small child !
And the only thing hanging in the hall for the Chat n Snap will be the sign!! :)
